About us

Derbyshire Carers Association was founded by Gerry Fryer in 1988 following circumstances which found him in the caring position as described by himself here.

Once he realised how little support there was for Carers Gerry aimed for and met his aspiration for Carer support provision.

With the help of some other Carers, Derbyshire Carers Association gained it’s first paid employee in 1989, this has now grown to over 30 dedicated and passionate employees as well as a large number of volunteers.

Annual DCA Carers Ball Highlights

The Carers Ball was a great success with over 150 Carers and Professionals attending including the Sheriff of Derbyshire and Mayor of Derby.

The event which took place at Derbyshire County Cricket Clubs Pavilion Rooms looked wonderful decorated with balloons and sparkles in DCA colours. Highlights included a tasty buffet, exciting raffle and a chance to dance to live singers Lawrence Penn and Rose Devine. In addition each Carer in attendance received a complimentary box chocolates kindly donated by Thornton’s.

DCA would like to thank everyone who made this event such a success, many Carers enjoyed the evening so much they are already looking forward to the ball next year!
