Derbyshire Carers Association (DCA) is delighted to announce that Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust (DCHS) has signed the DCA Carers Pledge, marking a significant step forward in recognising and supporting unpaid Carers within the workplace.

By signing the Carers Pledge, DCHS has made a clear commitment to:

  • Acknowledge and support unpaid Carers across the organisation
  • Nominate a dedicated Carers Champion(s)
  • Review and adapt workplace policies to ensure they are inclusive of Carers
  • Make reasonable adjustments where necessary
  • Effectively communicate support for Carers throughout the organisation

As part of this commitment, DCHS will now work in close partnership with DCA to achieve recognition as a Carer Friendly Employer through their Carer Friendly Employer Quality Mark – a local accreditation that celebrates and promotes best practice in Carer support across Derbyshire workplaces.

“We are thrilled to be working with DCHS, an organisation that is showing real leadership in supporting unpaid Carers among its staff.  By signing the Carers Pledge, DCHS is taking proactive steps to create a more inclusive and compassionate workplace for Carers, helping them feel recognised, supported and valued.”

Derbyshire Carers Association looks forward to supporting DCHS on their journey to becoming a Carer Friendly Employer and hopes more organisations across Derbyshire will follow their lead.

“I just wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks to Derbyshire Carers for their incredible help and support with the signing of the Carers Pledge. It has been an absolute pleasure working alongside Derbyshire Carers to assist us with training our Carer Champions and working towards the Carers Quality Kite Mark.”
