Derbyshire Carers Association held the first of its High Peak Information Roadshows at Bradbury Community House in Glossop on Monday, 10th July.

The event was an opportunity for carers to have an informal chat over tea, coffee and cake with DCA representatives and other service bodies. The Roadshows are designed to raise carers’ awareness of what organisations can do to help them in their caring role, and to open avenues of support.

The Roadshows are being held as part of the ongoing High Peak Consultation Project. This project is looking to identify the needs of carers in the area, and the service providers at the Roadshow were selected based on carer feedback and local need. They covered a range of topics from dementia to finance to community support and carer wellbeing.

Feedback from the event was very positive, with one carer saying that it was ‘a great opportunity to find out about local services’ and another that ‘the Carers’ Roadshow has been brilliant. Bringing the services together makes sure the carers get to know everything available in one place’.
