The Macmillan Information & Support Centre at Chesterfield Royal Hospital has received a Carer Friendly Quality Award
🌟 Proud Moment for Carers in Derbyshire!
The Macmillan Information & Support Centre at Chesterfield Royal Hospital has received a Carer Friendly Quality Award from Derbyshire Carers Association - recognising a partnership that’s transforming support for people caring for someone with cancer 💜
Together, via the Hconnect Carers Project, we’ve created earlier, stronger support for Carers who often don’t realise they’re Carers at all. From the ‘You Matter Too’ group to monthly drop ins, shared resources and real-life Carers stories. This work is helping Carers feel seen, valued and connected.
🗣️ “Carers are the unsung heroes… Supporting them is just as important as supporting the patient.” - Michelle Jacklin, Macmillan Information & Support Nurse
🗣️ “This work helps Carers feel valued and connected much sooner. Caring can be isolating - this project changes that.” - Helen Weston, CEO, Derbyshire Carers Association
For Carers like Alan, the support has been a lifeline:
