Derbyshire Carers Mission Statement

Derbyshire Carers Association provides support, advice, information and representation to and for Carers. DCA will work to enable Carers to make realistic choices as to whether they wish to be Carers, and to value their own feelings and needs as well as the feelings and needs of the person they care for.

Derbyshire Carers Association will work to ensure that all Carers, regardless of age, gender, religion, culture or relationship to the person they care for, should have the same rights, hopes, expectations and choices as people who are not Carers.

Derbyshire Carers Association will campaign to raise public awareness of the Carers role and to refute the assumption that it is a Carers duty to take on this role, regardless of their own wishes, and to ensure that Carers are seen as people first, Carers second.
