At Derbyshire Carers Association (DCA) It is our mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of local Carers by; increasing public awareness of the Carer’s role, challenging the inequalities unpaid Carers face and offering tailored support that is Carer-driven, professional, compassionate, respectful, inclusive and meets individuals need.
With support from Links CVS, the BME Forum and NHS Charities - our Inclusion Lead recently organised a ‘Celebration of Diversity’ event at Matlock County Hall.
The event successfully brought together different communities and cultures, as well as raising awareness of the range of services available to them.
Stall holders from a variety of services across Derbyshire were in attendance and there was also performances from singer ‘Raphael Tate’ and poet ‘Emeka Ejiofor’.
Therapists offered Carers and the people that they care for; pamper sessions, henna art and a creative art workshop.
This is what Carers said about the event;
“I just wanted to say thank you again for today it was a much needed break and I can’t tell you just how grateful I am - everything was perfect thank so much I am truly so grateful to you all”
“Thank you for an awesome day today. We both fully enjoyed it x
Through our partnerships with Links CVS, BME Forum Derbyshire, and NHS Charities - we are learning new ways to offer inclusive and culturally appropriate services that are sensitive to each Carers identity and heritage.
DCA would like to thank everyone involved in organising and attending our event!
