Respite Care - Caring Out Loud, a Podcast by Derbyshire Carers Association. Ep 6
Hello and welcome to Caring Out Loud - a podcast by Carers, for Carers, with Derbyshire Carers Association
Presenter Suzy is taking a well-earned holiday this time, but co-host Cullen explores an important topic for unpaid Carers: respite care.
What exactly is respite care? When might it be helpful? And what different types of respite support are available?
In this episode, we hear from fellow Carer Richard, who shares his personal experience of arranging respite care for his mum. We also speak to Vikki from Universal Services for Carers, now part of the Derby Carers Information, Advice and Support Service following Derbyshire Carers Association’s successful tender award in April. Vikki explains more about respite care and reminds us why it’s important for Carers to take a break sometimes.
Everyone’s caring situation is different, and Richard’s experience is just one example of what respite care can look like. There are lots of different options and sources of support available, so if you’re thinking about respite care, we’d encourage you to get in touch with us for information, advice and guidance tailored to your situation.
