🌿 New Training Opportunity: Last Days Matter 🌿

Derbyshire Carers Association is proud to announce the launch of Last Days Matter Training - Our Last Days Matter workshop is a gentle, 3-hour session designed to support carers, family members, friends, and volunteers who are walking alongside someone in their final chapter.

After successfully completing the Train the Trainer course with the incredible team at Blythe House Hospice, we’re now ready to deliver this vital training to our amazing network of carers and volunteers. πŸ’œ

πŸ’¬This workshop is led by Derbyshire Carers Association’s trained staff, with time and space for questions, reflections and discussion. It’s informal, open to everyone aged 18 and over, and includes:

βœ… Planning for the future

Covers both practical and emotional issues, including wills and advance care planning.

βœ… Finding your ‘3am friend’

Helping the person who wishes to die at home to identify and engage with someone who they can call at any time.  This might be a member of the family, friend or neighbour.

βœ… How to say goodbye

This is never easy, but this part of the session offers gentle guidance on having those important conversations.

βœ… Recognising the signs of dying

Understanding the physical changes and time frames in the final days and weeks of life.

βœ… The ‘new normal’

Bereaved people often tell us that they are unsure what is ‘normal’ after their loved one has died. They are uncertain how they are expected to feel and live their daily lives. In this section we offer signposting & support.
