Action for deafness.jpg (20 KB)Deaf Communication Service

Derbyshire County Council has a Deaf Communication Service which provides communication support to Deaf and Deafblind people, provides information and advice, and signposts users to other local services. More information about the service can be found here.

DCC have recently re-tendered the service, and the new provider from 1st October 2022 will be Action Deafness. Referrals to the service can be made through self-referral, family or carer referral, ASCH, Public Health, VSC organisations and services commissioned by ASCH or Public Health. Contact Action Deafness on 0116 253 3200 or at adcommunications@actiondeafness.org.uk

The service will operate in a similar way to the previous service, but now only supports Adult Social Care and Public Health type appointments (adult safeguarding, Care Act assessments, communication support for Deaf parents, weight loss classes, smoking cessation etc).

If you would like further information on the service, please contact the Deaf Team on 01269 537171 or at deafteam@derbyshire.gov.uk or email ASCH Commissioning at ASCH.ac-commissioning@derbyshire.gov.uk
