The Carer Awareness session would form part of the criteria, for your Practice, to be awarded the Carer Friendly Quality Mark – which can be publically displayed. The full criteria to gain the Quality Mark is as follows:
- Front-line Staff to complete the Carer Friendly Awareness session (this last approx. 1-1.5hours – there is no cost)
- Carers Champion in place (at least one from the practice team- often an administrative person but can be anyone with an interest).
- To display promotional materials for Carers (e.g. display stands / resource areas / website / waiting area VDU screen etc.) & to actively connect Carers onward for support.
- Keeping your Carers Register as up to date as possible (changes in circumstances / health changes / deceased).
- Displaying Carer information sheet on your Practice website.
- Carers Pledge signed and displayed.
- Offer / adapt services / activities, as appropriate, to make it easier for Carers to access the surgery & appointments.
- We can also promote your Carer friendly access and services across our network.
You will also be awarded with our Carer Friendly Practice Quality Mark in recognition of your ongoing commitment to identifying and supporting carers and continuing to work with us.
This lasts for a year and is reviewed annually.
