The Carers arrived at 10:30am to a cuppa, chat and get to know one another. Once everyone had arrived we were given a tour of Rhubarb Farm whilst collecting bits of nature for our first activity. We were shown the pigs and where they stay, Murphy the donkey, their pony, chickens and bees!

Our first activity involved us decorating our nature sticks with the items we’d found on our tour around the farm. This included weaving wool around our sticks and attaching any flower petals, acorns, colourful leaves and any nature bits and bobs the group found.

We then went on to have some lunch. The café on Rhubarb Farm had kindly made us all a wonderful lunch of stew with roast potatoes and dumplings, followed by some flapjacks for pudding!

After lunch the group went down to bed some lettuces. There were a large variety of different types of lettuce and the group had the chance to learn all about these and help with getting the planting beds filled up. The Carers managed to fill three whole beds!

Once we had finished bedding all of the lettuces we then went on to help out with picking the green beans ready for these to be sold in the on-site grocery shop! The group went along the large row of bean sprouts picking the ones that were ready to come off. We had a large basket full by the end of this!

Some of the group had the chance to go down to the chickens and collect their eggs, also ready to go into the on-site shop. They collected an amazing 18 eggs!

Once we had completed all of the activities we sat down and reflected on the day before heading of home at 3pm, the Carers had a great day out.
